Ransomware – remember it will not just go away

There is an article here:

Baby’s Death Alleged to Be Linked to Ransomware | Threatpost

Looking at the case being brought against Springhill Medical Centre, Mobile, Alabama following a death of a baby due to problems caused in delivering life saving care because the hospital had suffered a ransomware attack.

The hospital and the attending doctor, Dr. Katelyn Parnell, are named in the case but the perpetrators of the ransomware attack are not named in the court papers as their identity is not know.

In my forthcoming ebook about ransomware and business I have looked at a similar German case that did not actually make it to court (Wired UK, 2021).

Although most businesses do not have this type life and death situation if they are hit by ransomware, training, a good incident response plan that you have practiced and even contingency equipment and locations are all part of a strong defence against these types of cyber attacks.
