This story has been doing the rounds on the tech news sites for a couple of days. Hackers have had unauthorised access inside the systems of one of the worlds global communications backbone companies for nearly five years. Syniverse (a company millions of people seem to be dependent on but I bet you have never heard of?) dealt with the intrusion back in May 2021 but not before compromising potentially millions of mobile phone users worldwide as well as it’s 200+ clients.

There seems to be little details on the attack but it does highlight that SMS/text is not the best multi-factor authentication – these hackers could have gained access to the OTPs. Use an authenticator app.
