Apple has always promoted it’s App Store as a safe a secure place to download apps to your iOS device because of the level of curation (and fees) they apply to any app available there. Google on the other hand, still charges the fees to developers, but there was always less curation and more malicious apps getting past the gate keepers. (This is not a post about sideloading.)
Now Google is getting tougher and catching more – if it becomes less profitable for the hackers to try and pass off malicious software in the Google Play Store then they will go elsewhere and try something else.
