A new strain of malware/ransomware has been discovered by the MalwareHunterTeam – who have Tweeted out details and images. The ransomware is being called RedAlert, or N13V, and target Windows and Linux VMWare ESXi servers.

Double extortion
Similar to other ransomware gangs targeting big organisations, they not only demand a ransom for sending over decryption keys, but if the organisation does not pay – they may have backups and a plan in place to deal with ransomware – the gang wants a ransom not to publish stolen data on the web or dark net.
