I have listened to many businesses complain about the UKGDPR legislation – particularly web designers and marketing companies – many citing that users do not like it (of course it has nothing to do with how they now have to look after personally identifiable information properly and justify their use of that information). There are some issues with the law, but basically it does provide protection for the citizen from the overzealous business or organisation without principles.
It also provides serious teeth to the United Kingdom and the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) that Big Tech can no longer evade:
