Yesterday was Patch Tuesday for Microsoft

So, everyone knows what that means, for the users, slow internet connections as we all gather in those vital updates, for the administrators, checking what needs to be done and checking that it has happened – including checking that the users have not skipped the updates because they are too busy! October 2022 Security Updates – Release Notes – Security Update Guide – Microsoft

There is a lot going on in this release, fixes for actively exploited zero-day vulnerabilities and 80+ other software issues addressed. Here is Bleeping Computer’s report on the release, which makes easier reading than the release notes above, however it is not complete:

What you need to do is reference your Cyber Security document that quickly shows you your operation and check what of this release impacts you and check the work has been done to apply the updates and patches.

My advice: Either you or your IT support need to check whether these issues impact your systems. You need to have a master document that details your systems, hardware, software, online, networks, back-ups, suppliers etc – so when cyber security (or operational) issues arise you and your support teams can quickly check if you are affected. From there you can take fast, effective action.
