Update 18 October 2022
DuckDuckGo’s privacy enhanced email service is now extended (in beta) to Mac users:
DuckDuckGo for Mac enters public beta, now available to everyone (bleepingcomputer.com)
I am still using my account – and it has proved useful for those services where I see a privacy risk.
Original Post
I write a lot about privacy – as I believe it will lead to better cyber security for individuals and organisations. It was a subject I read and write about whilst I was at University and elements of my dissertation were aimed at controlling information for better privacy control.
I have been using the anonymous email address protection offered in my iPhone, which you find at:
SETTINGS – APPLE ID – ICLOUD – HIDE MY EMAIL
For more details:
What is Hide My Email? – Apple Support
Now the private search company Duckduck Go has set up a service that offers similar random anonymous email addresses to protect your privacy and inbox when you sign up for services.
Why not jump over there and and set yourself up with an account, I did.
Here is a link to DuckDuckGo’s explanation page with links to how to set the service up.

Here is something I do not normally do, publish my email address in a blog post – that’s why we have contact forms!

This is an experiment to see how long it takes this email to become a spam magnet – at that point I will deactivate it.
That’s why you need one of these DuckDuckGo private email accounts.
