Although this series of cyber-attacks is closely associated with the Ukraine/Russia conflict you should expect to see other cyber criminals adopting similar tactics:

This article by Johannes Ullrich shows the web of accounts that threat actors weave across social media platforms to build the trust needed to deceive us.
And then there are the lies, the scareware, – “Your Apple iPhone is severely damaged by 19 viruses!”. There are no viruses. However if you are worried by these messages and follow the links to “help” you will end up at an app in the Apple App Store. The “walled garden” security of the App Store should make sure that the app you could end up installing is benign but as the article says, it probably will push you to purchase premium services.
Don’t be sucked in if these types of messages start to show up in your Twitter or other social media feeds.
