A few weeks ago, I was asked to write an article looking at the ups and downs of using USB data storage devices in businesses:
If you must use portable USB drives, then you must read this… – CyberAwake
One of the down sides was the Japanese man who loss an unencrypted memory stick that contained the personal details for an entire city. The article also looked at how you could be allowing your data to walk out the door and what to do about it.
Now there are reports from the Far East of hacking groups targeting organisations and businesses in the Philippines with infected USB drives:
Espionage group using USB devices to hack targets in Southeast Asia – The Record by Recorded Future
The attacks have spread outside the Philippines when the compromised victim has international links. If you work with a Philippines company that could be you.
