If you are using SMS to authenticate your Twitter you will need to switch to another authentication method before 20 March 2023 as Twitter is going to turn the service to save itself $60m.

Now this is not a bad thing as SMS authentication is inherently insecure and vulnerable to a variety of attacks. So it is good practice to replace it with either a hardware authentication device or use an authenticator app – not only for Twitter but for any other service you still use SMS authentication for.
If you want to continue using SMS authentication – and I cannot explain why you would , but I am sure there is a use case somewhere – then you can pay and become a Twitter Blue subscriber.
