Putting you under-pressure or approaching you when you are under stress is a classic way threat actors successfully exploit their victims. Here is an example on the BBC of such an attack:

I happily use the words criminal and attack rather than scammer and scam – there is nothing soft or cuddly about this!
As part of our cyber security awareness training we explore such “under pressure” or “too good to be true” cyber-crime scenarios with the attendees so they are able to react to issues, even on the days when the project deadline approaches or the widget just has to be shipped.
