Apple withdraws the Rapid Security Response

I wrote about this cyber security response by Apple when the Rapid Security Response (RSR) was released.

Apple Patches | Smart Thinking Solutions

Of course I encouraged you to get the updates done – I did.

Now there are reports of issues with the update and it needs fixing on some devices – the Apple explanation is here:

If you applied Rapid Security Response iOS 16.5.1 (a), iPadOS 16.5.1 (a), or macOS Ventura 13.4.1 (a) – Apple Support

The instructions to fix this problem are easy (they are in the about Apple support release) – I did not need to so it on my iPhone as I am running an iOS 17 beta on that but I did have to do it on my iPad.

However the Webkit vulnerability is still there – we now have a classic, waiting for the patch, zero-day scenario
