Realistic Cyber Security – “Out of the mouths of AI”

I am very keen on the work of Bruce Schneier and his stuff pops up here on Smart Thinking from time to time – including this article by Diana:

I was interested when on his blog, Bruce reproduced a summary of his book, “Beyond Fear”, created by Claude, an LLM AI assistant. So, for the first time I am going to quote an AI, here on Smart Thinking.

Effective security requires realistic risk assessment, not fear-driven responses. We need to rationally determine actual threats versus perceived ones.

Why am I telling you all of this? I am away at a conference today, so I am bringing you an article I wrote few months ago as I thought it was worth reminding you that your cyber security needs to fit your risk and budget.

Normal service will resume next week for The Wednesday Bit.
