The British Library ransomware story continues…
…now the hackers have released British Library customer information to the Dark Web.
British Library hack: Customer data offered for sale on dark web – BBC News
The Rhysida ransomware group threatened to release the stolen information unless a 20 Bitcoin ransom was paid, now they are monetising the hack by selling the data on the Dark Web.
Here is the part of my Ransomware Primer mini-series that looks at the triple threat and the release of your client’s information to the Dark Web.
Reports indicate that the data being sold includes scans of passports – probably taken by the British Library to confirm their client’s idenity before giving acces or loaning out material. Interestingly I had a case similar to this last week where a client was holding identity verification data – I solved their problem in a way that does not leave them open to the same issues now faced by the library and their clients.
Do you want to know the solution? My client paid for that answer – so I will not share it here for free, but you could contact me.
