Happy New Year.
I am going to start the cyber news for 2024 with a story that broke between Christmas and the New Year – Apple iPhone hardware vulnerabilities.
I am a great supporter of the Apple iPhone and the associated “walled garden” App store as a good cyber security step for clients. In contrast to the Google Android Play Store, which suffers from many rogue apps, the Apple store and consequently iPhones that are processing your organisation’s information do not run a very high risk of installing data stealing apps.
But that is not the whole story when it comes to Apple iPhone security – there is the hardware.

Now the one thing to remember about these attacks is that they are targeted spyware attacks, on politicians, journalists and activist not the usual opportunist data stealing attacks, so you are not likely to be a target. Your takeaway from this is, even if you use an Apple device because of the security advantages you should be aware no cyber security is 100%.
