NHS cyber security breaches always have a severe impact on someone – it is the nature of the information they need to keep secure. NHS data breaches also have the potential to impact large numbers of people. The problem is do they spend the money on cyber security, clinical care or manager’s company cars and plush offices?

Here a group calling themselves INC Ransom have stolen three terabytes of data – that is a lot of patient and employee records and NHS information – which it is threatening to make public.
Now the spending decisions include “do they pay the ransom?”
More medical data at risk
Details are thin on the ground here as the University of Cambridge’s Medical School has not revealed the nature of the “malicious activity”. But it is a world leading medical centre and it probably has medical records stored on computers somewhere!
