Over-sharing

I have many discussions with clients about this topic – over-sharing. Whether it is in their social media, on their website or even on the notice board in the reception area. These snippets of information that are readily available without “hacking” are called OSINT – open source intelligence.

The Internet of Things

Then there is the information that can leak out because you have a device on your network that is connected insecurely to the Internet-of-Things (IoT). When I am carrying out IT and Cyber Security Audits, I have found that cheap/Amazon/eBay CCTV systems are often not secured properly or worse on looking into the product deeper, basically cyber security flawed.

Now I will have to look at kitchen appliances as well:

Your Takeaway

You probably do not have an IoT connected air fryer in your office – may be in your home office – but the points raised in Robert Booth’s article applies to any IoT device on your network.
