Social Engineering nets $1.5B

Having written yesterday about why technical cyber security defences are essential but are flawed because of the human element can be exploited directly by social engineering, here is a costly real world example of social engineering working:

There is a link in Bruce Schneier’s article to a full report on the attack, but the essence of it was the people were decieved into giving away the technical keys to the money.

You may not have $1.5B to lose but you do have assets to lose if one of your team is played!
