Now Apple is taking the UK Government to court over the issue:

Encryption is a useful tool for privacy and cyber security for all of us. However criminals also use it to hide their crimes. The Government wants a backdoor into this secret data – only to be used on criminals after due process – but the exisitence of a backdoor into everyone’s Apple data would be a prize no threat actor could ignore.
How long would it take a hacker group, where money is no object, to find that secret backdoor?
I suspect, not long.
