Marks and Spencer Cyber Attack

There are no details about the attack yet, or whether customer information has been compromised – but the attack has impacted the online shopping and “click and collect” service – which probably use customer information to function.

Marks & Spencer confirms a cyberattack as customers face delayed orders

No ransomware has claimed responsibility – yet – and Marks and Spencer did not respond to BleepingComputer’s communications. The official responses from Marks and Spencer via X, Facebook etc, reassure their customers that the attack is not a problem and that their customers do not have to take any action!

If I had a Marks and Spencer account, I’d be checking any cards I have registered with them for unusual activity at the very least – and probably changing the disposable email address I use for the account.

I am sure there will be more to come on this story.

Keeping your message accurate and up to date is essential during an incident. I believe it is better to point people to your website, from social media posts, for accurate information rather than use social media as the primary communications channel.
