“Because It’s Friday“, I have two space stories for you today.
The first is science from the Perseverance Rover on Mars. The science team involved with the project have released a paper discussing some geological (?) evidence of possible life functions discovered in the rocks.
Signs of ancient life may have been found in Martian rock – new study – The Conversation
The original title of the paper was going to include “life on Mars”, but the power of a peer process, caused the team to revise the paper title to reflect the evidence found not the supposition. Excellent – science at work.
Here is the paper:

Normally I would list all the authors of a paper in the tags, but there are just so many…

And NASA’s take on the discovery:
NASA Says Mars Rover Discovered Potential Biosignature Last Year – NASA
To help with this story, here is a YouTube video from Scott Manley who breaks the paper down into a digestible summary, without dumbing down the content.
The second is from Randall Munroe:
He is right, Earth is sci-fi weird!
Have a good weekend.
