Ransomware is still the top threat…

Another school has been hit by ransomware. They tend to be soft targets for threat actors as they use a range of predictable applications, their IT teams are not large, IT tends not to be a priority and they have a large group of potential victims for phishing emails etc. in the staff and pupils.

Hardenhuish School in Chippenham, Wiltshire is in the middle of a ransomware attack but appear to be in good operational shape as they has contingency plans for such an incident. They are no reports on the extent of attack or whether sensitive data has been stolen.

ransomware

Don’t be a helpless victim of ransomware

Ransomware is always reported among the top cyber security threats that businesses face (UK Government. 2022).

Recently I wrote a mini-series looking at 10 important ransomware topics that every organisation must get to grips with – you should read it.

Your takeaway from this is that an incident response plan and some training and testing of that plan, coupled with some cyber security awareness training will take you a long way to towards facing that threat.

A small investment for peace of mind.
