Apple sues NSO Group to curb the abuse of state-sponsored spyware – Apple (UK)
The Apple press release states that the action is “to hold it (NSO Group) accountable for the surveillance and targeting of Apple users”.
Apple goes on to state clearly what the aims of the court case are:
“To prevent further abuse and harm to its users, Apple is also seeking a permanent injunction to ban NSO Group from using any Apple software, services, or devices.“
Apple has stated that any damages it is awarded from the lawsuit plus $10m will be donated “to organisations pursuing cybersurveillance research and advocacy”.
