Hot on the heels of “New Outlook – Surveillance in the name of profit” comes a report from the US Government’s Homeland Security on how Microsoft handled the 2023 Exchange Online cyber attack.

Whatever Microsoft says about the attack, it appears that no one really knows who did what and when!
Your takeaway
I have written Microsoft into many cyber security plans as a trusted partner, on whom the client can rely on to store and manage their information to the highest standards. In fact at this very moment, I am carrying an internal project at Octagon Technology to review and update our cyber security. This includes “trust in Microsoft”. This report and “New Outlook – Surveillance in the name of profit” has me thinking…
There is one good thing to take from this article, the intrusion was spotted by a Security Operations Centre (SOC) which detected and reported on the anomalous activity, enabling cyber security experts to respond. We use a SOC, as do many of our cyber security clients, to monitor, report and respond to our systems 24/7 throughout the year.
