2024 has been the biggest year in human for elections, nearly half the planet’s population has had a vote. At the same time serious questions have been raised about how much influence AI has had, will have on elections.
Bruce Schneier, with Nathan Sanders, have contributed a piece to The Conversation looking at just that:
For another take on social media, politics and protection Nick Clegg, former UK Deputy Prime Minister and now Mark Zuckerberg’s second-in-command at Meta has been interviewed by Nick Robinson for his Political Thinking podcast.

Your takeaway
AI is getting everywhere – you cannot watch anything on TV without a Grammarly advert or some celebrity coming on and telling you how great AI is for your organisation. Every time hear someone say “Grammarly helped”, I wonder if Grammarly or another AI could have just done their job in the first place.
But as the article says AI can be used for good and bad. Threat actors use it to enhance their attacks, tools we supply to clients use it to help defend against those attacks. For example our Security Operations Centre (SOC) relies on both AI and machine learning to provide 24/7/365 real time cyber security protection for our clients. But for it to be really effective there is a team of people who overview and manage that protection and make it work for our clients.
Have you got AI enhanced cyber security?
