Do Your Part. #BeCyberSmart.

October is Cyber Security Awareness Month, and to celebrate we shall write about different aspects of the subject every day.

Today I just want to raise awareness of simple things you can do to protect yourself from dodgy emails.

First of all, check the email address carefully.  If the email is from somebody you don’t know, it is always wise to make sure it is legitimate, as far as you can tell.  Some bad people buy domain names that look like well-known names such as Amazon, but there could be a slight difference, such as substitution of nn for m.

If you are invited to click on a link, hover over it before you do so.  The destination will show and you can check whether it is what you expected.

That said, any email containing a link or with an attachment could be suspicious, so if you are in any doubt at all, don’t open or click or download!
