Because It’s Friday – A Time Travel Story

I am pretty sure my love of good time travel stories started when I saw Rod Taylor in HG Wells’ The Time Machine – some time in the 1960s. It’s a classic, it looks good, and it kept to HG’s story.

Then there are the Weeping Angels in Blink. An excellent time travel story, from the “doctor” of time travel, (I wanted to say “master” but that did not sound right), The Doctor. If you have not seen this, watch it, even if you hate Doctor Who, this is a classic of story telling, mixing video Easter eggs, with a love story and statues that can move.

Then we come to real time travel. Astronomers do it every day. The light from distant stars that they study, is old light, 12.9 billion years old, showing them and us, things from the past, today.

Most distant star to date spotted – but how much further back in time could we see? (theconversation.com)

NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Centre

This research was done using Hubble – Hubble’s successor, the James Webb Space Telescope has the promise of being able to see back even further in time.
