Nancy Pelosi, a senior United States politician and Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, has now left after a short but controversial visit. China was not pleased about the visit.
SANS has a report this morning on monitoring of Chinese reaction online – not blogs, news reactions, etc. but cyber attack and espionage activity:
Increase in Chinese “Hacktivism” Attacks – SANS Internet Storm Centre
There is not much empirical evidence of Chinese cyber action yet, although if it was espionage based, that is harder to detect. The reports are mainly anecdotal. However to add to that anecdotal evidence, our team and clients at Octagon have been having connectivity issues with a range Microsoft 365 for Business apps, starting last night. Our operation Manager has a quick look on the Admin control panel and it is showing a range of “Service Degradation” advisories across the system.
