Stealing credit card details is old hat – who remembers when we had to check on the carbon papers when cards were used? – but it still makes criminals money today.
I have written a lot on how you should check out thoroughly your web designers as what they do or don’t do can have a huge impact on your business and reputation.
How much are you relying on your web designer to protect your reputation?
Here is a hack that is doing the rounds at the moment that is aimed at poorly secured and maintained online shops:
Hackers hijack legitimate sites to host credit card stealer scripts (bleepingcomputer.com)
Imagine if your customer’s credit cards were compromised and it was traced to your online shop?
Stealing credit card details – that does not bother me as we do not have an online shop…
Well what about straight forward site vandalism or posting of inappropriate material?
How secure is that application you had written that controls your stock and orders? Does it contain any sensitive information you do not want leaked?
These are among the questions you should be asking yourself when it comes to writing your comprehensive cyber security plan.
