One thing I learnt very quickly whilst studying and after graduation was that my degree in cyber security was only the tool to make me think about cyber security properly and unless I kept my personal study up to date the degree would soon become useless. That is why I read about cyber security (nearly) every day and why you get these blog posts and articles.
I have two very popular types of posts here, the Because It’s Friday articles, they are a good way to finish the week and the Wednesday Bit where I write a short but in-depth article into some aspect of business cyber security. Of course, these articles take time to write, fact check, proof and publish so this week whilst I am at another cyber security training event I do not have the time to write you something new. But…
I do have a mini-series I wrote a couple of months back explaining the zero-day threat with software to let’s have another look at that:
Zero-day and what you can do about it
The Zero-day Threat – What is it?
The Zero-day Threat – What can you do about it?
The Zero-day Problem – Do Something Special
The gap between a vulnerability being found by either a cyber security researcher, vendor or hacker and an effective patch reaching the affected systems is a vulnerability all organisation decision makers need to understand. If you do not understand it then this primer will help you.
Normal service resumes next week.
