The Richter Scale of earthquake strength is something we are all unfortunately acquainted with and it is also something that most of us get completely wrong. For a start the Richter Scale is no longer used!
Watch this xkcd video and learn how much power the Death Star generated. For something not so world destroying you will find out what the equivalent of a magnitude 0 is and find out the magnitude of your cat knocking your mobile phone off a table.
Then there is the magnitude of typing on your laptop.
