Part 10 of my Back-to-Basics Phishing Email Primer was published last week on Octagon Technology. But it is a little different that other parts of this project.
Martin – the Operations Manager at Octagon Technology – has described how organisations need to configure their systems so that their legitimate email is not wrongly classified as spam or phishing emails by anti-virus and email scanning systems. This is really important for two reasons:
- Marketing folk and others in your organisation, can get carried away and include too much information in a bulk email mailing – which can trip a false positive.
- Once your email is blacklisted it is a task to get yourself off that blacklist.
Martin discusses what you need to do, to avoid your legitimate email being listed as spam or phishing emails.
