Ransomware is making the rounds – #BeCyberSmart

A second post today for Cyber Security Awareness Month – as this incident is happening now.

There is no official confirmation yet – but it appears that Sunderland University is suffering a major cybersecurity incident – possibly ransomware.

It cannot be emphasised enough you must take every precaution you can against these types of attacks. To include:

  • A back-up that meets all the specifications of the ones offered at Octagon Technology
  • An incident response plan – so everyone knows what they are going to do if the worst happens
  • Training to equip your team (or yourself if you work on your own) on how to recognise and deal with these types of business continuity threats as they appear in the inbox
