It is a new year, so it is a good time for a new start. Over on Octagon’s blog this month the theme for the month is going to be “get organised” and I am going to start the 2025 Wednesday Bits on the same theme.
Cyber Security and Get Organised
One of the best tools I know for getting a cyber security project organised is Microsoft’s OneNote. Here are just some of the benefits when used to make sure your cyber security is up to scratch:
- It has encryption – essential for those secret parts of your cyber security.
- It supports collaboration – for the plan to work, everyone needs to be involved and informed.
- Other files can be embedded into Notebooks – now you know where the latest insurance documents are.
- When you and your team have to manage an incident you can access your plans from anywhere.
Well organised and documented Incident Response and Business Continuity plans will work more effectively than overly complicated and disorganised plans.
Some things get organised as the New Year starts.
Here are a few other cyber security items you should be thinking about now:
- Have you checked if anyone has changed their BYOD equipment over the Christmas or New Year period? Presents and bargains in the New Year sales means change is more likely and change needs to be recorded in your Cyber Security BYOD documentation.
- Your Cyber Security policy says lots of good things, but when was the last time you ran a Cyber Security Awareness Course for your team? If you are not sure whether your team needs this type of training have a look at this:
Cyber Security Awareness Training – Why?
- Of course you do have a Cyber Security Policy?
- Windows 10 computers will stop getting cyber security updates in October 2025.
- Is it time for an IT and Cyber Security Audit?
Get Organised
It looks like this will become a mini-series of articles, I will add the links to the other articles here once they are published.
Have a great 2025.
