New advice issued by the National Cyber Security Centre for the “long haul” with the Russia Ukraine conflict

I have been explaining throughout the period of the Russia Ukraine conflict, that even though the cyber-threat spread has been limited, so far, it may not remain so and it may take time for the threat to UK organisation and individual systems to develop.

Today the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has issued further advice on how we can deal with possible cyber security spread of the conflict.

The advice is aimed at supporting UK businesses and organisations in keeping this heightened cyber security awareness effective over an extended period of time.

One of the techniques we have been using at Octagon for maintaining our cyber security awareness is having “role play” scenarios during some of our weekly staff meeting. No one gets any notice of the role playing event, except me as I set the scene and drive the role play on with leading questions to test everyone’s readiness. It has been the case that every time we learn something new, have adapted our approaches to deliver a better service and we have enjoyed it.

The team really benefitted from the experience of working together on something that we made fun, but had a serious outcome.

This is one of the reasons that our new Master Class; “5 essential skills you need to do your own cybersecurity – A Masterclass” will now include a role playing session as the final session of the series, so the attendees can play with their new skills.

Take a few minutes to read the updated advice from the NCSC, to put yourself and your team in a good place.
